Well I just think that I need is the CRUX package system.

It was just one question that comes to my mind when installing the Evolution package, and seeing all the dependencies that required, I'm not saying that the package is working bad. It is only a suggestion.

That's a rather bold statement, considering that there's an existing
port for evolution 2.4, and that the dependencies as we have them now
work fine for even large projects like gnome, KDE and others.

Sounds like what you want is gentoo's portage:

Versioned deps, optional deps, and a lot more; the probably most
universal build files.
