Hello there, Today I've found a very interesting project on freshmeat, called qemu; it's a processor emulator which can be used in a similar fashion as VMWare. http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/ I've just quickly tested booting a crux iso (plus a knoppix live cd) which worked just fine. [clc-devel] Authentication Problems

Hi CLC maintainers, i updated openssh to 3.8.1p1 in the morning and discovered together with jue, that it doesn't allow locked accounts to login via public key authentication. That worked until 3.8p1 and I used this mechanism to let the users use cvs although the accounts were locked. So we went back to 3.8p1. After changing the passwords in /etc/passwd to a secure value for all maintainers and unlocking the accounts it should work even with 3.8.1p1. Please mail me immediatly, if you have problems with cvs on CLC. [clc-devel] Dependency graphs

While trying to learn graphviz, I decided to try to make dependency graphs in order to teach myself the scripting language. I ended up writing a script and building a graph for every non-unmaintained package. You can check them out here: http://plutor.org/projects/crux/graphs/ Some of the graphs are pretty nice, for instance 'ogle'. Some are downright complex, particularly the gnome packages, like gnome-media. I tried to make a graph that included all of the packages, but the 50000-pixel-wide image crashed X. The collection color code is: * Base: black * Opt: blue * Contrib: green * Unmaintained: red Packages that I have installed are bold. I've included Jürgen's opt dependencies list in the configuration, but I'm not entirely sure that that's 100% accurate or complete. But it's good enough. I just thought you guys might be interested in taking a look at these, they're not necessarily _good_ for anything. (I'd checkin a graphviz port, but I had to do some hacking of the tk port to get graphviz to compile right. I think there's a long-standing bug involving include paths, but I need to do some more fiddling before I can make a recommendation to Martin.) Logan

Hello, The Wiki-based website is ready to be announced as main webpage for the CLC project. If no one objects (or volunteers the write the announcement), I'll send an announcement to crux@fukt soon. There are two minor things I'm aware of which we should probably change anytime soon: - anonymous can't write wiki pages ATM - some files are still hosted at berlios.de. Hello everyone, I've been implementing changes in httpup to allow syncronisation of subtrees of a repository and found out that it might be an option for us to get packages from external packagers into the CLC CVS tree. I've written a short explanation in the Wiki, find it at http://crux.fh-regensburg.de/cgi-bin/cvstrac/wiki?p=HttpupNg With such a solution, we could easily keep up with external packagers, given they provide their ports in an httpup repository. Imagine they could just submit a bug report "there's a new version of fluxbox, sync it from http://my.domain/ports/clc-upstream#fluxbox". Sidenote: We might solve the problems with 'unmaintained' with something like this. <interlude> A comment for people aware of httpup repositories: Packagers could use the following layout for their private repository: clc-upstream/ portA private/ portB portC The "supfile" for ports(8) would check out the private subtree; once a port is accepted into CLC (as externally maintained port), the maintainer moves it into clc-upstream from where the CLC maintainer syncs it to the CLC CVS tree. The maintainer can even decide to put a new version of a port into 'private' first (so people subscribing to his private collection will get the new version immediately) and move it to clc-upstream only if it has been synced. </interlude> The new version which is going to be released as httpup 0.3.0 has gone through a major refactoring, so I'd appreciate testing of the current release (2.90) very much; to do so, just update the 'version' variable in contrib/httpup (new md5: eb78e8dec74d9e9417dc19033a0ab1fe) and pkgmk -d -u (or prt-get edit httpup Pkgfile && prt-get update httpup). There might be a few minor changes before the release of 0.3.0 and a 'diff' command if I can find a good way to do it; probably not for .0 though. Comments, suggestions, ideas?
