If the directory not exists - it fails to sign a server keys. [clc-devel] Little time to spend on CRUX related stuff in Q1/2006

Hi there, In the first quarter next year, I'll be moving to a different city (from Bern to Zurich) and start to work for a different employer. I'm just mentioning it here since I have a number of tasks ahead with higher priority than CRUX, and I'll therefore focus mainly on the multi-arch experiment and my ports, and spend little or no time on the new contrib, change requests for the webpage, crux.nu administration or the issues listed on the PostSwitch wiki page. I'm sure that this will cause no problems as those were shared responsibilities anyway, I might however redirect some requests sent to me privately to clc-devel or clc-contrib. [clc-devel] Renaming core/pkgconfig to core/pkg-config

Hi, I'd like to rename core/pkgconfig to core/pkg-config, since the name of the package changed upstream (see http://pkg-config.freedesktop.org/wiki/) pkgconfig is currently listed in ~5 ports' dependency lists, so these could be easily updated. However, I think pkg-config should be treated as an essential package, since it's used by so many packages these days. That way, we could drop it from all of the depency lists ;) Any objections to renaming the port and removing it from any dependency list? Regards, Tilman

[clc-devel] Multi-platform ports management

Hi there, I know that the PPC team as well as Peter Banks who took over the sparc port are reading this, so let's start discussion issues related to ports management. I think it's important to first agree on a goal for this, and cover the technical details later if there's a consensus. Also let me state that this is my personal opinion only, not the one of CLC or the CRUX project. My goal is to have a system with the following properties: 1. The user only gets ports tested on this platform 2. The user gets the same system on every system 3. No single master tree (as it is now) 4. The package management stays as easy as it is now (i.e. no special cases) 5. Allow to start ports to new architectures easily, without requiring too many developers Is this something we can agree on? [clc-devel] advocates for new contrib members

Hi, It seems there are more and more people who want to join the new contrib, and I think it would be a good idea so start a similar model as we had at CLC for maintainers: 1. in order to join contrib, you have to find someone to advacate for you 2. the advocate is responsible for helping the candidate to get started, and should observe him for a while to make sure he's doing a good job Everyone who's part of 'contrib' already is invited to be an advocate (assuming that he's been part of the system for some time, like one month or so).
