Hi,
a few notes on port maintainance for CRUX 2.3; consider
the following as a suggestion since we were unable to
decide on a clear path towards normalization.
Note: this only applies to the 2.3 branch.
- About global Vs. specific maintainer for core ports:
do as you like :) Basically if you feel like taking
care of a specific port set yourself as the maintainer,
otherwise we'll use core-ports.
- About Packager fields for core and opt ports: list the
original packager only if it's still active in the
CRUX community, so we can limit the amount of unwanted emails
sent to the wrong person.
- Johannes (opt) ports need a new maintainer: I'll likely adopt
the following: neon, subversion, polymer, xxdiff, licq.
Johannes is ok with changing the maintainer info just in the
2.3 branch.
- All ports should list external files: patches, support scripts,
etc in the source array, except for pre-post install and README.
We only have a couple of offending ports, nvidia and libexif
(unused patch?).
- We will soon remove the attic and contrib-old repositories
since they were both meant as a temporary convenience solution
during the git and new contrib initial phase. You may want to
have a look into those repos before they're nuked ;-)
Slightly offtopic: we need a new maintainer for mailing lists,
if somebody's interested please speak up.
Regards,
Simone
