Hi all,
I'd like to propose a IRC meeting next week to discuss the final steps to get 2.4 out.
Suggested date: Tue, Nov 27, 20:00 CEST
I'll try to attend. :-)
As far I can see there are no big or even small issues to solve, though some open tasks:
- Finalize the release notes - Update ChangeLog. I'll do the usual stuff, but it would be nice if we had some words about the new ISO-stuff under the Installation/Bootkernel section. - Bootkernel configuration. Is there anything we should add/enable? - ... ?
I would like to propose some changes/updates to the Handbook: The first thing: For the impatient, I would prefer to have Till's CRUX-quickinstall in the handbook close to the beginning - or as a separate file on the ISO. Reason: To give new users an overview and some motivation that the installation is really just a matter of minutes. And for the experienced a reminder not to miss a line. Second: it would be good to extend the Handbook for a more detailed reference. I.e. include some of the FAQs - especially the ones which belong to the installation: http://crux.nu/Main/Faq#ntoc10 Reason: centralized documentation... preferably in the Handbook. Third: Section 3.3 - Upgrading from CDROM: Add some more details what happens here: Packages from core get _replaced_, so dependencies of already installed and not updated (non-core/opt/xorg) packages might get broken... Add an example how this looks like and add an example of a revdep session top fix it and some explanations. (like http://crux.nu/Main/BinaryIncompatibleUpdates, but more details) What do you think?
