That's not a big thing. The CVS HowTo [1] contains most you have to know. If you have further questions, feel free to ask; we can also provide you with a guide to set up a test repository locally, to make your first steps without any risk. I'd long an in-depth, so I'd suggest to start using cvs, and browse the manual if you have questions to the commands. I've also added an extra section in the Cvs HowTo [1], covering the setup of a local repository. This should allow starters to follow the cvs howto without the need of having access to the CLC CVS repository.
