The aliases file should be updated to reflect the name changes for j2sdk/j2re. Along those lines, and I know we discussed this at CRUXCon 2k4, but perhaps this file could be manipulated by commands like the lock file? e.g. prt-get alias jre jdk; prt-get listaliased, etc.. This would remove the burden of bumping a prt-get release when new alias situations arise, and would allow users to create their own aliases for situations the rest of us may not be aware of or need to be aware of. Just an idea. Also, just a general question, has anyone modified pkgmk to exit with a unique status when failing because of NEW .footprint entries, and if so, does prt-get have the ability to test for this? Rebuilding a large software base like a full gnome deployment with all of the goodies becomes very tedious and time consuming without these options.
