Hmm, personally, I like having the unmaintained ports there. I can search in the /usr/ports dir for something I want to install, and if it is in the unmaintained dir, I know that it's there, and it's usually less work to fix it to be current. Many of them still work fine with just a simple version number change, and if they don't it's often just a matter of googling for the new website.
I strongly dissagree with completely removing the unmaintained ports. Perhaps have them be an optional download when you sync your ports dir, but not get rid of them all together. Linux is all about options, I would hate to see some of them limited...
I was writing one of my long, boring replies to Markus, but I saw Paul's reply and it summarizes well my thoughts on the matter. This doesn't mean we cannot re-organize /unmaintained ports, if there's suc a request from users/maintainers. Regards, Simone.
