Otherwise, we'd end up listing a rather large number of ports in every other port; i.e. every port would depend on the toolchain, many ports would depend on sed/grep/etc., autotools etc. This would also lead to circles in the dependency graph and therefore break our dependency model.

Thanks. I did some more search on bin86 dependencies. There seems only lilo and dis86 depending on bin86, so bin86 is not needed if you don't want to use lilo (or dis86).
