[clc-devel] Release plan for 2.2
Hi there, 2.2 is getting in shape, so here's the target release plan for it: Mon 20.3. - public release of 2.2-test1 - Stop updating 2.1 except for security related issues - Test your ports on 2.2-test1 - prepare 2.2 release (*) Sat 1.4. - release 2.2 (*) This means: - update the handbook on the website and the ISO - find a solution for the download problem (i.e. find primary download location) - do bug fixes as found by the testers I added a "2.2" version in flyspray, so issues required for 2.2's release should be added there. To check open tasks for 2.2, visit https://crux.nu/bugs/index.php?tasks=all&project=1&&due=3 If you're aware of open issues, please file them in the bug tracker and/or post them here; otherwise, happy testing :-). Nice ;)
Mon 20.3. - public release of 2.2-test1 - Stop updating 2.1 except for security related issues - Test your ports on 2.2-test1 - prepare 2.2 release (*)
Sat 1.4. - release 2.2
Ah, releasing software on this date is always an interesting exercise ;)

I'll be happy to upload the 2.2 release to fukt if that's any help. Since all(?) mirrors are still reflecting the fukt archive it might be the easiest way to distribute the 2.2 release at this point. Did I give you guys the list of contact persons I have for each CRUX mirror? I'm thinking that if you plan on setting up ftp.crux.nu (or something similar) in the future you might want to contact these people and ask them to update their mirrors. /Per

Ah, releasing software on this date is always an interesting exercise ;) Oh, and it opens a wide range of possibilities for the announcement... maybe announce some "changes"? The new Enterprise grade CRUX? ;-)

I'll be happy to upload the 2.2 release to fukt if that's any help. Definitely, that would be a great. This way, we can look into both the
Slightly related, the next release will be 2.6, and we'll release it on june 20 this year (for europeans, that's 20.06. 2006) ;-). j/k primary server question and mirroring later. I'll drop you a mail once we're ready, okay?
Did I give you guys the list of contact persons I have for each CRUX mirror? Yeah, I think we have that list somewhere on crux.nu, probably in crux' home directory. I'll double check next time I'm logged on.
I'm thinking that if you plan on setting up ftp.crux.nu (or something similar) in the future you might want to contact these people and ask them to update their mirrors. Yeah, sounds good. We'll have to talk to Charlie regarding the bandwidth, however I'd say we should get a better idea of the needs if we'd watch the impact of the 2.2 release.

I've never used handbook.txt on the ISO. Why not moving the handbook to Wiki? Changes will be published on-the-fly and it is easier to maintain. bye, danm -- Daniel Mueller Berlin, Germany OpenPGP: 1024D/E4F4383A

I think it's important to leave it on the ISO too. (no network available, cli-only environment, etc). Maybe we can add a note on the very first chapter saying that updated versions of the handbook are avalable at crux.nu Regards, Simone -- Simone Rota Bergamo, Italy - http://www.varlock.com
