pkgutils: INSTALL rule support
Hi, I've committed a patch to pkgutils that implements the INSTALL rule in pkgadd.conf, as described in http://crux.nu/Main/PkgutilsIdeas#ntoc18. I ignored the second suggestion on that page (per port settings), though. Maybe this should be pondered again when we're taking on the rewrite... The documentation hasn't been updated yet, but if anyone wants to try that feature, please do. Let me know if it causes any problems (it shouldn't :D). Regards, Tilman -- A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

Thanks for your work, it appears to work fine so far; I think it would be nice if it printed some "ignoring XYZ" messages like for rejects. I haven't look at it yet, but I guess that would be rather easy to do (but would also help testing it now, since we'd then instantely see if it did what we expected). For the lazy ones amongst us, I made a port from the current svn version; get it from my httpup, or via httpup sync http://jw.tks6.net/files/crux/ports/pkgutils/ pkgutils Happy testing. Good point. INSTALL should be treated the same as UPGRADE in that regard, IMO. The change is in SVN. Thanks for providing a port :) Regards, Tilman -- A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. I attached a patch to the pkgadd man page. Do you think this is good enough? Thanks, Tilman -- A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

Committed (with minor tweaking). I think the INSTALL stuff is good to go now. Should I roll a new pkgutils release? I attached a patch to the pkgadd man page. Do you think this is good enough? I'd suggest to add Han's suggestion to pkgmk to detect downloads with mimetype HTML as failed (unless they're *.html); I'll have a look later today or early next week. With berlios starting to suffer from the same

I'd also suggest to quickly discuss (IRC meeting) the recommended usage of INSTALL and note that somewhere in the wiki (see fontconfig thread). Great news! Thanks for your work, Tilman. I have waited for this day since the suggestion of this feature. Of course I will test this patch, too. Regards Viper
