[clc-devel] CRUX 2.2-devtest1
Hi, I've been working on a CRUX 2.2-devtest1 iso image, currently available at: http://crux.nu/~sip/devtest1/crux-2.2-devtest1.iso http://crux.nu/~sip/devtest1/crux-2.2-devtest1.md5sum README file here (contains important information): http://crux.nu/~sip/devtest1/crux-2.2-devtest1.README I propose we use it as a starting point for the 2.2 release cycle, together with the related makefile/ports: http://crux.nu/~sip/devtest1/devtest1.tar.gz This way we can discuss and adjust things while every developer can play with a bootstrapped 2.2 image (and create his own if needed). Hi Simone, I just checked your README for caveats. The version of wireless-tools (27) on the iso is current, and builds/functions fine on 2.6.14. I've not yet upgraded my kernel to 2.6.15.x. Perhaps someone else has, and can comment? Nice work. -- Jay Dolan Software Engineer, Systems Analyst Windmill Cycles, Inc.

Yep, works with 2.6.15.4 Greetings Juergen -- Juergen Daubert | mailto:jue@jue.li Korb, Germany | http://jue.li/crux

What about branching off 2.2 and making the port adjustment we've been discussing? Moving some stuff from core back into opt etc. Regards, Tilman -- A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

[Tilman, sorry for the double mail] Good call, I'll see if I can add a 2.2 svn branch at crux.nu with the next build this saturday. Regarding isos I'd like to put out a new devtest release each weekend until we're satisfied enough to dub it rc. (Of course this will happen only if there are changes). On a related note, I only have 64bit machines at home, I'd feel safer if somebody else with a Pentium machine would take care of building at least the RCs and final isos. README file here (contains important information):
- x11 I'd suggest to use Daniel's x11 port with the addition of '#define BuildXterm YES', '#define InstallXtermSetUID NO' and '#define InstallXtermSetGID NO' to host.def. The current port disables the build of libXp which is needed for xaw3d/gv, and maybe for other programms. - wvdial I've committed a new version of wvdial to the 2.1 tree, which builds with gcc4. Thanks for your work, Simone ! Juergen -- Juergen Daubert | mailto:jue@jue.li Korb, Germany | http://jue.li/crux

Sorry, forgot to add a link to the updated port: http://jue.li/crux/files/x11-6.9.0-1.prt.tar.gz -- Juergen Daubert | mailto:jue@jue.li Korb, Germany | http://jue.li/crux

Good, I'll use thhat for devtest2 (I already included a separate xterm port put this one makes more sense)

Great, thank you very much. Regards, Simone -- Simone Rota WEB : http://www.varlock.com Bergamo, Italy MAIL: sip@varlock.com

It works well for me. I've nothing to add off the top of my head besides that which has already been mentioned in the thread. Also, I'll be happy to build iso images on a pentium 4 or m machine if you like. Matt (jaeger@freenode/#crux)
