I did some initial work to get some of the ports up and running. I'll admit to not having time to do anything since early September. There once was a link to what I had done but I am unsure if it is still available. I can pass on what I have to anyone who want to pick it up. I'll also admit however, that 64-bit is a PITA right now (even on more established distributions) and 32-bit is better for software compatibility. 64-bit does improve large integer intensive apps as well as memory intensive apps. Unfortunately, most of those improvements are rarely seen on a desktop machine (database servers and web servers would see more improvement). Louis

is there anyone still actively working on porting crux to amd64? i'm getting tired of gentoo on my 64bit box, so it's about time i get busy with it. but i'd rather not re-invent the wheel if anyone's gone and finished up a port...
I'm not working on it - 32bit software is as fast as 64bit sw, and I'm not using anything which profits from 64bits...
