Due to boredom I had a look in my http-logs and noticed to my surprise I had couple of 404's for my old httpup "REPO" file. I switched to rsync a couple of weeks ago and since I didn't think anybody used any of my ports I failed to inform any of you. Sorry about that :). CRUX 2.5: dropping some X ports?

Hi, for the next CRUX release, I would like to remove some xorg ports that I believe shouldn't be needed/used anymore. These ports are: xorg-xproxymanagementprotocol xorg-xf86rushproto xorg-trapproto xorg-libxtrap xorg-liboldx xorg-evieext xorg-libxevie xorg-xf86miscproto xorg-libxxf86misc Dependencies on these ports within the xorg repository are not a problem, but please let me know whether you have a use for some of those libraries/protocol headers. Issue with multilingual keyboard support, only in unprivileged bash, direct or X11 client

Dear all: I noticed this strange behavior. I installed French Canadian keyboard support with plain vanilla configuration steps, i.e. # loadkeys cf for direct consoles (ones which reports ASCII or UTF-8 to a kbd_mode command) and in /etc/xorg.conf a line like Option "XkbLayout" "pc+ca(fr)" (this applies to bash in which kbd_mode reports raw or scancode mode) This works fine in every contexts that I tested, except *unprivileged* bash *when-it-reads-a-command-from-its-standard-input*. For instance, $echo Montréal français can not be typed due to the eacute character (echo Montral francais), but $cat Montréal français ^C works as expected, and a vim session also works. Privileged (root) bash sessions work in Crux, and unprivileged sessions in a Suse distribution also works. Note that the special keystrokes sequences that generate a character code *in-the-ASCII-range* works in every case, e.g. <AltCar> 2 generates the @ character and ^ <space> ganerates ^ (^ e is expected to generate ê or ecircumflex). It is not a serious issue for me, it just made my configuration troubleshooting more tedious. Perhaps this strange behavior has other side-effects, so I'm reporting this as seemingly Crux (2.4) specific. P.S. If I may get an account for the wiki, I might report the kernel config file that worked for my Lenovo T61 laptop installation. Cups sorrows

Hi folks I have a new problem. I used cups for some time. Recently I reinstalled crux linux after a partition blew it's gasket. I have a hp officejet j5780. I installed hplip and cups. hplip 2.7.6-1 foomatic-filters 3.0.2-1 ghostscript 8.63-1 cups 1.3.8-1 If I print an image it prints perfectly. If I print the test images from either cups or from hp-toolbox they print fine. However if I try to print from the likes of openoffice or a textfile they do print but with complete disregard for spacing and formatting. No matter how I screen format the document, when I print it it comes out with no space whatsoever between successive lines. And I meant no space, the bottom of topline and top of bottom line are almost joined. I tried various other PPD files including the one from linuxprinting.org and from hpijs and gutenprint etc. No joy. Evenmore annoying is that I have a PCLinux installed in another partition with same ppd file as the driver and with similar setup. I even compared the files in /etc/cups/* between two installations without much use.
