Probably an obvious question, but still going to ask it: I have a package which calls pkg-config like so: /usr/bin/pkg-config --atleast-pkgconfig-version 0.9 Tried the above on two virtual machines - one CRUX 2.8 (32-bit), the other CRUX 3.0 (64-bit) Here are the results, which you can try yourselves: CRUX 2.8: root@crux:~# /usr/bin/pkg-config --atleast-pkgconfig-version 0.9 root@crux:~# echo $? 0 root@crux:~# CRUX 3.0: root@crux-3-testing:~# /usr/bin/pkg-config --atleast-pkgconfig-version 0.9 Partial character sequence at end of input root@crux-3-testing:~# echo $? 1 root@crux-3-testing:~# Any idea why this is so? How build (pkgmk) a port under different (non-root) user credentials?

Hello, list! I'm trying to make a port for CRUX, but one of the packages has the requirement to be built as a regular, restricted, non-root user. How should I go about this? Can I add a temporary user to the system for the build purposes inside of Pkgfile and on the end - remove the user id? Is there a better approach? Thanks in advance for any ideas! -- Plamen Petrov

prt-get footprint mismatch ask-option?

Hi, when I do a bigger prt-get action (like sysup) and a footprint mismatch occurs, the command exits. Often I don't notice it and when I look for my prt-get to see whether it has finished, I see, that it had stopped after the first package or something like this :-( I think the footprint checking is a good thing, but I also think, it would be better to handle it different. Exit on mismatch or use -if are both not really the best solution I think. My preferred solution would be to have a beep when a footprint mismatch is recognized with a continue y/n question to decide what to do. My question is: Is their a way to do this or something similar with the current program or, if not the case, does the crux community would like to have such a feature. If so, I would try to dig a bit into the source and try to integrate it and request the maintainers of the program to include my patch. Sebastian
