Hi All,
Hello Arthur,
I'm trying to install crux 2.6 i386 but I'm having trouble. I believe the problem is with my kernel configuration. I built device-mapper, ext3 and lvm options statically but when I run the lilo command, I get:
/proc/misc: no entry for device-mapper found Is device-mapper driver missing from kernel Failure to communicate with kernel device-mapper driver
until here everything is ok. It's only a info message from lilo that you don't have device-mapper support in your kernel, which is not needed for the usual setup without lvm etc.
Fatal: open /dev/: Is a directory
That's an error, check your /etc/lilo.conf, see lilo.conf(5). Probably your boot setting is wrong. You should get something like the following if you run lilo with the -v commandline option: reading boot sector from /dev/sda ...
Can anyone give me some advice on this. Also, a somewhat related topic. If I mess up the kernel config, is it possible to recompile without starting the whole installation process again? Would "make clean" do the trick or are there some other commands I should issue?
Run 'make help' to see the available options. HTH Juergen -- Juergen Daubert | mailto:jue@jue.li Korb, Germany | http://jue.li/crux
