Have you ever tried the "localyesconfig" variant of kernel compilation? On Suse, where it works, do $ lsmod > f $ LSMOD=f make O=/usr/obj/linux localyesconfig oldconfig and then adjust the resulting .config file to your needs. I found that i always miss things because i just do not know enough of kernel subsystem interdependencies etc. to get the config right. localyesconfig generates a config file from all the things that the currently active kernel uses actively. I would vote that the CRUX ISO kernel should have anything on (and what not needed somehow, as a module), so that the localyesconfig can be used to generate a template .config that fits perfectly for the system being installed. I would never have been able to do it right entirely -- i failed multiple times indeed, and it was only localyesconfig which get me really going! --steffen | |Der Kragenbaer, The moon bear, |der holt sich munter he cheerfully and one by one |einen nach dem anderen runter wa.ks himself off |(By Robert Gernhardt)
