please tell us what options you have to work with there, if you're unable to get to a prompt in crux, sounds like tinkering with bios settings may be your only option. on another note, i have pentium 3 boards running from CF cards on crux 2.8 ( i believe). maybe try that version instead?

It's hardware that is used in the lab I work in.
2.what's your install proceedure? what filesystem type are you putting on that CF card?
I haven't even gotten to that point. The installation fails before I get to a prompt to format the drive.
