wpa_supplicant slow down

wpa_supplicant is taking longer than usual to start and background itself when I boot my machine. Before the last upgrade it was almost instant, now it takes a few seconds before the boot process completes. Any idea what caused the change and if there's any way I can restore the old behavior?
