What's the output of amixer and aplay -l (they are in alsa-utils port)? According to this http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Module-oxygen Xonar DG does not have hardware volume control, so you should create sofware Master control using .asoundrc or use Pulseaudio.
