Is it possible to upgrade to 2.3 without booting from CD-rom och NFS?
Sure.
I was thinking of changing the /etc/ports/* to point to 2.3 instead and recompile gcc, glibc, install them and recompile the kernel and reboot (and hope for the best).
(I think) I did something similar when I migrated from 2.1 to 2.2 and it worked fine. But do you who know how it works under the hood have any good advice?
I did this. First of all: check out the changelog. Some programs have been removed from the basic install, and replaced by others. Expat has changed major version, so a lot of programs needing libexpat.so.0 will not find this file. I'd recommend copying libexpat.so.0 to some other folder and temporarily add this to /etc/ld.so.conf. Then upgrade expat before any program depending on it. -- Robert Bauck Hamar Semikolon markerer en litt kortere pause enn punktum; det kan bare stå mellom selvstendige setninger.
