I can only speak for myself as a opt member. I never would care about libheif because I have no personal motivation to have that support with imagemagick or any other software I use. This does not mean it can't happen, but you can't expect us to import new ports to suit YOUR usecase.

Just putting in somebody as a Maintainer surely isn't the right way to go. CRUX is open source. None of us are paid personal or anything. The reason why there is no libheif package is probably that nobody has that problem (using Apple devices). Therefor, personal engagement isn't to be expected. If you want it, you have to work for it. Create your own repository, care for it, import it to contrib eventually, and keep supporting it. This is how I can imagine that maintainers of existing packages can optionally pick it up and allow support for the Apple image format. I hope that helps. Best regards, Tim
