Hi,
Hello,
How difficult is installing CRUX (with the manual)
If you know fdisk, mkreiserfs, mkswap etc you can get Crux copied to your hard drive. If you want it to actually boot up, you need to know: how to configure, build, and install a recent 2.6 kernel how to configure /etc/fstab how to configure /etc/rc.conf hot to configure /etc/rc.d/net how to configure /etc/hosts how to configure /etc/resolv.conf how to configure /etc/lilo.conf and use lilo If you want X, you need to know how to configure xorg.conf
compared to installing ... Linux From Scratch?
If you installed LFS and *understood* what you were doing and can configure your hardware/network/software by hand-editing config files, then you should be ready for Crux.
What window manager do you all use and why?
I think you just failed the litmus test! No one here cares which window manager your use. Use whatever *you* can configure and install :)
I've only slightly played around with Gnome and KDE
Avoid Gnome and KDE. They are huge distractions that waste precious time you could better spend on learning Linux. Hope that helps, Chris
