I did a clean install from the install dvd.
After that I did install the binary driver with prt-get install nvidia Then gl-select use nvidia
Then I installed xfce according to the manual.
But when I log in as root then I see a no screens found error message.
Xorg --configure does not work.
How to solve this ?

At the console run as root: # nvidia-xconfig and the command will modify the xorg.conf file so that Xorg will use the nVidia's binary driver. Start XFCE afterwards by issuing: $ startxfce4 as a normal (i.e. non-root) user. It should now start properly. -- Rex <bjorn@krstarica.com>
