Regarding libmpfr, I assume this was done to avoid requiring texinfo or other packages, not to require it. As for ncurses, I agree this syntax looks odd and inconsistent but the compile still works fine as the configure options are quoted anyway, making the backslashes unnecessary. Regards, Matt
