Hello list, I'm glad to announce that the ports for KDE 4 are ready. To install KDE 4 all you have to do is: wget -O /etc/ports/kde4.rsync 'http://crux.nu/portdb/?a=getup&q=kde4' && ports -u kde4 Then follow the instructions in the Wiki page: http://crux.nu/Wiki/KDE4 Caveats: - this is KDE 4.3.5, it has several bugs and is far from perfect, but if you wish to take the risk, go ahead - amarok and k3b are missing (I'm working on this) - basket is based on a development snapshot I took The last version of the KDE 3 series is 3.5.10. It doesn't build with gcc 4.4, and even after fixing it so that it does, there are some reproducible crashes in kmail and akregator that won't get fixed upstream (patches are welcome). Its still possible to build a working installation of KDE3 it by downgrading gcc back to 4.3 momentarily, building everything, and then going back to gcc 4.4. PS: I would like to thank Tilman and Jose Vicente for their collaboration. Enjoy! Alan
