Hi, we recently decided to replace the port browser[1] on crux.nu with a simpler version in order to ease up maintainance. and reduce the load on the server. Since the new version does not collect detailed information about the ports, you won't see all of the nifty features of the previous one. We enabled all the repositories previously available on the portdb; all unreachable repos are now automatically hidden until next sync. If your repository is missing and it shouldn't please contact me. As a side note, the url for the search page changed, so some adjustement is needed for the ones who configured a search engine for their browser. An updated reference for firefox is available here: http://crux.nu/Public/FirefoxPortDBSearch Thanks for your attention, Regards, Simone [1] http://crux.nu/portdb/

Hi,
May be leave info from Pkgfile (descriprion, url)?
And version+release
not at this time, sorry. The whole point of the new portdb was to provide something that: 1. is "enough" for exploring 3rd party repos: only list ports/repos 2. does not download random files from the net other that what's strictly needed for #1 We recognize that the new portdb lacks the details provided by the previous version, yet it's all we can provide at the moment. If anybody's interested in coding *and maintaining* a more complete version, please drop me a mail. Regards, Simone

I fully support this decision. "Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler." --Albert Einstein. Regards, -- Anselm R. Garbe ><>< http://suckless.org/~arg/ ><>< GPG key: 0D73F361

Simplicity is nice. Plus, if the lack of features bothers anyone, they can simply fetch the requested port to $TMP, see what is there, then delete if one so desires. Might not be as useful as it used to, but you can not have it all. ;)
