Hi All, I'm new to this group so please be kind :-). I need to get a driver for an Intel SRCSAS18E Raid controller. On Intel's site they are only offering a driver RedHat and SuSE. Can anyone assist me? Thanks, Ori

1. Why are you still running 2.1? 2. Linux is Linux. -- Lucas Hazel <lucas@die.net.au> ================================================= "Clothes make the man. Naked men are rarely taken seriously, or given employment." =================================================
We're still running 2.1 because the original systems were built (and proven) on 2.1. Migration to 2.3 will require certain code changes that our CTO is hesitant to make. I recommend to use the latest CRUX-2.3.

The drivers might work with CRUX, too, however binary drivers are not supported. YMMV. Otherwise, you have roughly two choices: 1. If present: enable the linux kernel driver which supports the "SRCSAS18E raid controller". (I don't know which one it is... research yourself) 2. Download or ask Intel for the source code of that driver and compile it yourself. If there is no source code or programming reference material of the driver/controller, give the hardware back and buy hardware which is supported. As far as I know, that driver is binary only and closed source. Intel is unlikely to give you the source, but it is harmless to ask. Curiously enough there seems to be an open source driver for that RAID controller in OPENBsd. I do not know how difficult could be to "port" it to linux.
