GNOME install error "fotprint mismatch found"
i am trying to install GNOME. i ahve configured "/etc/prt-get.conf" & also placed "gnome.httpup" file in "/etc/ports/". after that "ports -u" is fine & produces successful results. i gave the follwoing command: "prt-get depinst --install-scripts gnome" after 5 hours of "downloading-compiling-installing" it says while instaling CUPS: "ERROR: footprint mismatch found" it was my fresh installation. after that i also tried the "--force" option to "prt-get" but it returns the same error. any help? -- arnuld http://arnuld.blogspot.com/

1. This isn't very helpful since it gives 0 information except that something didn't go as expected. 2. Please refer to the FAQ found at http://crux.nu/Main/Faq //treach

sorry, i have made sure, 2 things must be done before posting problems: 1.) checking FAQs 2.) checking the CRUX mailing list archives hey Treach, BTW, i just did: "prt-get -uf depinst --install-scripts gnome" and it resolved the problem and installed the CUPS :-) i also got a new error with that but that wasn't important as this new error was resolved as soon as i did: "prt-get depinst --install-scripts gnome" thanks -- arnuld http://arnuld.blogspot.com/

Footprint "error" messages are 9 out of 10 no errors, just warnings. If you have some library or something that makes the port build additional stuff the footprint might not match. I suggested that footprint "errors" would print out as a warning instead in an earlier message. This thread is a fine example of my point :) -- Fredrik Rinnestam
