The configure script runs ok, but running make results in

The latest devel perl-5.9.4 seems to compile fine.

I've been doing a lot of playing with perl lately, and this cropped up.
However, I think gcc 4.2 is only in testing at the moment, so it 
shouldn't be
an issue for most people.
