installation and configuration of Crux with success

I immediately thank you all of the list who kindly answered all my questions when I first tried to install Crux with useful information. I registered and saved all the information given to use them at the appropriate time to do so. However, I have decided to start from scratch and reinstall Crux- 3.1, because the error messages have become many and complex. This time I held the excitement with Crux and I made no change in the contents of the installation media kernel. As a result, the installation went smooth and without errors . I got to the point of #ports -u and # prt -get sysup with no problem. The internet connection is perfect and the intel ethernet controller has been reconized at once. In the next step , I will go into graphics mode. I followed the guidance, by Don Cupp, that highlighted that the network connection should be created after a fresh installation of Crux. I expanded the guidance for all the other configuration itens without changing the contents of the installation media kernel. So, as very well advised by Don Cupp, I decided to "Follow the yellow brick road, follow follow follow, follow the yellow brick road.:)". This way, step by step, the installation has gone to the point I have mentioned above with success. I will return to the list with further questions. Cezar

80% of this is kernel stuff, which you get the hang of fairly quickly. The rest is relatively straightforward...

Agreed. CRUX is IHMO mostly about providing the minimal set of infrastructure required to get a complete and useful LInux-based operating system. rc + filesystem + pkgutils + ports + kernel are usually what make up CRUX (prt-get optional) The rest is just "software" that you "install". Glad you got your system work :) Do we (@jeager) need to update the CRUX media's kernel? cheers James James Mills / prologic E: prologic@shortcircuit.net.au W: prologic.shortcircuit.net.au On Mon, Jan 5, 2015 at 1:57 PM, James Trimbee <james.trimbee@gmail.com> wrote:
