Hello, I'm a french student (network and telecommunications), and a linux addict. I come from a archlinux, but it was not enough optimised for my compurter. I just installed a crux on my compaq mini 311c on the last week end. Everything was ok, until I had to launch openbox. I installed : - xorg - openbox - NVidia driver - hald and dbus When I types startx, openbox is lauched, but I can't use keyboard or mouse. I tried to change the keyboards and mouse drivers in xorg.conf. Drivers where "kbd" and "mouse", but it don't work better with "udev" drivers. Could somebody show me a xorg.conf which works? -- Brice Lopez

Have you checked CRUX website and search internet for similar problems? AFAIR there were few other people with similar problem. Yes, there were other people with the same problem, more specifically: you! http://lists.crux.nu/pipermail/crux/2008-December/008773.html -- Alan Mizrahi

I know ;)
However, I don't think that fix is useful anymore. Wawrzek -- Wawrzyniec Niewodniczański vel Wawrzek Larry or LarryN Linux User #177124 E-MAIL: wawrzek@gmail.com PhD in Quantum Chemistry WWW: http://wawrzek.name MSc in Molecular Engineering JID: wawrzek@jabber.wroc.pl

The "correct" way of handling this is to build a kernel with INPUT_EVDEV enabled and ofcourse make sure xorg-xf86-input-evdev is installed. btw, hald is no longer used by xorg-server to configure devices. -- /Fredrik Rinnestam

Ok, that solution worked, thank you :-) It was maybe a newbie mistake, but it was my first kernel build, so all that is new for me. After a night of compiling (the intel atom is really slow), Openbox runs perfectly, and I can write this email from crux \o/ To do list : -configure my wifi-card (I hate broadcom) -configure distCC, the atom is to slow. My pentium IV debian server could maybe help it? -learn how works pkgmk and configure it -try to optimize my kernel -build a lot of packages (gmrun, terminator, wicd...) -- Brice Lopez
