Hi, I have a strange issue - I cannot start Xserver as a standard user. Xorg complains about keymap (error message below). In the same time I can start X as root. In both cases I uses the same configuration and My CRUX is still quite blank as installed from CD (no xorg.conf then). I have looked at wiki and /var/tmp looks fine: bash-4.1# ls -ld /var/tmp/ drwxrwxrwt 2 root root 6 Nov 9 12:36 /var/tmp/ My rc.conf is quite simple. bash-4.1# cat /etc/rc.conf # # /etc/rc.conf: system configuration # FONT=default KEYMAP=uk TIMEZONE=Europe/London HOSTNAME=bizantium SYSLOG=sysklogd SERVICES=(net sshd crond) I ensure that from working X command like setxkbmap -layout gb works fine. The google is not very helpful. Any ideas? Hi,
[...]
I have looked at wiki and /var/tmp looks fine:
bash-4.1# ls -ld /var/tmp/ drwxrwxrwt 2 root root 6 Nov 9 12:36 /var/tmp/
I had the problem with something else (Mutt) and found that /tmp has also strange privileges. I changed them I startx started to work. bash-4.1# ls -ld /tmp/ drwxrwxrwt 6 root root 4096 Nov 9 13:36 /tmp/ Wawrzel -- Wawrzyniec Niewodniczański vel Wawrzek Larry or LarryN Linux User #177124 E-MAIL: wawrzek@gmail.com PhD in Quantum Chemistry WWW: http://wawrzek.name MSc in Molecular Engineering JID: wawrzek@jabber.wroc.pl
