what is the trouble? why it is not updating "contrib" packages? i also tried making a directory named "contrib" i.e. "/usr/ports/contrib" even after doing that i get the same error :-(

Put this in your /etc/ports/contrib.rsync

host=crux.nu collection=ports/crux-2.2/contrib/ destination=/usr/ports/contrib

yeah, it works. only the "collection" line was faulty in my "/etc/contrib/contrib.rsync" thanks buddy, i also did "ports -u" after creating a "gnome.rsync" file & it went fine without any trouble, all by your grace :-) -- arnuld http://arnuld.blogspot.com/
