Hello, I have a question regarding the availability of updated ports for Crux 2.8. How long will updates for 2.8 (32 bit) be available when 3.0 (64 bit) is out? Regards Markus

Hi Markus and other interested parties. I am unable to give you a definitive and straight answer to this at the moment. However, with some planning ahead and a few modifications you should be able to use most of the 3.0 ports for 2.8. prt-get lock (or maintaining local copies of some ports) will be your friend. Specific ports such as gcc/glibc should not be upgraded since they will be x86_64 specific. If you look at the current 2.8-x86_64 repos (http://crux.nu/gitweb/) it should give you an indication of what will be needed. -- Fredrik Rinnestam
