Pidgin port cannot connect to ICQ network / updated Pkgfile
Hello, since the current crux port of pidgin (2.4.0) cannot connect to the ICQ network anymore, I have created an updated version of the most recent release which can connect to the ICQ network again (2.4.3). Maybe others can use it too. I have attached it to this mail. Regards, Markus Heinz
There may be more to this than just an update to pidgin. See this slashdot story... http://slashdot.org/articles/08/07/02/1331224.shtml -Louis On Wed, Jul 2, 2008 at 11:04 AM, Markus Heinz <markus.heinz@uni-dortmund.de> wrote:

That was my first thought when I saw this thread's subject, but 2.4.3 seems to work with ICQ for me. Thanks for the updated port, Markus. Hopefully we'll have 2.4.3 in opt soon. They don't block alternative clients but an old version of the protocol. Alternative clients that emulate the current version are fine.

Why is there no pidgin 2.4.1 and 2.4.2 even in opt now it's even more out of date i'll keep my own copy i can't rely on opt anymore for updatedness. http://romster.dyndns.org:8080/linux/ports/crux/romster-opt/pidgin/Pkgfile

Wow, if you notify crux@ every time you fork a port it's going to be a pretty busy list.

If it was kept up to date i wouldn't need to, would I now. same thing with mdadm that finally got updated and out of date subversion and imagemagick that's got a missing source for ages not just a few days guys for weeks now. Sure if I report it will get no where like bug 277 and 278, clearly violates rules about html doc's. Regards, Danny Rawlins <Romster>
