Great! Just what we need. A way to introduce CRUX to users who don't read the documentation. There are already distros with GUI installers aimed at these people.
Is a GUI a bad thing? There is also a GUI when you call "setup" at the Installation. Its ncurses based but where is the difference to a GTK Frontend?
Exactly, there is already a simple setup script, which lets you select the packages to install and nothing else. The rest of the process is done by hand, using vi and basic tools. This is the point of Crux, and our philosophy: to keep it simple.
Nobody can keep you from writing a setup program, but I just don't see a place for it in the Crux image.
If you want to contribute to make the Crux distribution better, there are plenty of other things you can do.
Kind regards,
Alan No, it wasn't my aim to build a fork or something like that of CRUX. I have only questioned if there are Interessts in an GUI Installer. When there are no interessts; and i thing so; i will stop this Projekt now. I am not sad, when i dont spend my time on it. I ve just played with directfb and the gtk backend and thing, that it will be very easy to build an Installer, an maybe one for CRUX, with it. But its ok, its no need, it was only a question.
