[clc-devel] CRUX Mascot sketch

Hi, some month ago[1] we briefly discussed on the ML about adopting a new mascot for CRUX/CLC. This month I finally had the possibility to get in contact with an old fiend of mine who does art/design and asked him for a sketch of a raccoon (which seemed the most voted animal in the ML thread). Hi, http://clc.morpheus.net/ seems to have been down longer then the little hickups in the past. Out of curiousity, why is the website down, but CVS still fine? Is CLC in the process of moving to a CMS powered website (aka: "portal", to use the buzzword)? Cheers, Nick

Hey, I played a little with google maps and started a map of CLC devs: http://jw.tks6.net/files/crux/devmap.html Therefore, I'd appreciate if you guys could send me your latitude/longitude information, plus the city name. I think it would be neat to have both developer and user maps, just for the fun of it (for the later, we'll might have to provide some means to update the entry via the web, but for an initial version, we could just do it statically). Hi, during the last weeks I came to the conclusion that I've not enough time for CRUX. We are a bit shorthanded at work and this situation will not change in near future (normal work time increased. :-(. My home machine is an AMD64 and I'm running a clone of Jeremy's 64bit CRUX on it. I don't plan to upgrade my (x86) contrib ports for the next CRUX release (2.2). Actually, I'm happy that I'm able to keep the 64bit ports up-to-date (crux.danm.de/ports/). [clc-devel] CLC httpup repos

Hi, I've noticed that something isn't completely right with the CLC base/opt/contrib httpup repositories. It seems the REPO files isn't updated to reflect the actual files the reporitories have. Of course, the result is that "ports -u" always downloads a few files, even though I already have them. base/filesystem and opt/openssh seems to be two examples of ports that suffer from this. Could someone check that the REPO files are updated correctly with every sync against the CVS repos? /Per

Hello, I'm writing this mail because I want to become a CLC maintainer. Firstly I think you are interested in why I want to join it. Well, I like Crux very much, so I want to do something for this distribution and another point is that I want to improve my english for school. Secondly here are all ports I want to maintain in the future: - pal (it's a really nice calendar) - muttprint (it's useful for everyone who uses mutt) - lineakd (useful for multimedia keyboards) - lineak_defaultplugin If there's a general interest in abcde, I can maintain it too. All ports listed above are maintained and used by myself for several months. You can get a quick overview of my repository at the following url: http://hometux.de/crux/ports/ I've read all requirements of becoming a maintainer and I think I can perform them. I use ck4up to keep all ports up-to-date and I am subscribed to both mailinglists of crux and CLC. I also use irc. But, there's also a problem. I do not have any experiences in CVS. I have read some guides about it and I think I understand CVS in theory, so I hope that this isn't a problem for you. I assume that I will not play with the CVS repository. :) Regards Viper

Hi, After a request from Matt, I've added a /var/empty directory to base/filesystem. This directory is meant to be used by ports that need an empty directory for things like chroot, such as openssh, openntpd, etc. So, if you run into any such port in the future you know there's a directory available for this purpose. (btw, the openssh port doesn't use this new dir at this very moment but I plan to change that soon) /Per

Hi Guys, I have a peice of software that I'd like to create a port for and make available to other CRUX users (obviously) I'll try it out myself though first (from the website it appears to be very nice!). I have a problem though, it's called MuSE However this may conflict with an already existing port called: muse Will it conflict ? Hi folks, several ports in contrib place SSL certificates and keys in /etc/ssl/certs/$server resp /etc/ssl/private/$server. Examples include dovecot and vsftpd (they actually might be the only ones ;D). Apache however uses /etc/httpd/ssl.cert resp /etc/httpd/ssl.key.
