Hello (sorry for my bad en) Is a howto for HAL Support in kdebase available (need this for USB Stick / Camera, and so one....)? hal, dbus, ..., running: bash-3.2# ps ax | grep -E "udev|dbus|hal" 488 ? Qt4 crash fixed

Hi, to those of you who tried to run Qt4 on CRUX 2.3: The bug was in xorg-libxi. It's fixed in version 1.0.4 of that library, which is in the ports tree now. New Crux Mirror Registration

Unorthodox upgrade to 2.3

Hi all, Is it possible to upgrade to 2.3 without booting from CD-rom och NFS? My machine in not located in the nearby and lacks CD-rom and has a slow network connection and hosted by a person with the same knowledge about linux as my mother. I was thinking of changing the /etc/ports/* to point to 2.3 instead and recompile gcc, glibc, install them and recompile the kernel and reboot (and hope for the best). (I think) I did something similar when I migrated from 2.1 to 2.2 and it worked fine. But do you who know how it works under the hood have any good advice? Best regards Per

udev + no sound

Hi all, Sorry for the "retro" problem. I'm using Crux 2.1 (still) and I am seeing that I will have to upgrade in the future so I have decided to see how udev (might) works. I used Matt Housch's " udev from the start" from the wiki page as a guide. After boot everything appears OK.. I do get a boot message "loading sysfs ..already loaded or busy" ?? unsure how important that is... but the current handbook says sysfs needs to be in the fstab... It seems to me that apparently the snd/sound devices aren't being loaded/populated at all. I have an old kernel with devfs to compare with, so it's definitely the udev! Under devfs kernel the directories are populated quite differently as the relatively bare /dev/snd /dev/sound directories are with the udev kernel. So what am I missing? How can I trouble-shoot this...?? Oh.. my sound card isn't being recognized in either kernel boot dmesg.... but I load it as a module in modprobe.conf. Has been ok until now... Any input/help would be greatly appreciated.....

PyGTK footprint mismatch when compiling from opt

Hi all , I'm just wondering if anyone else if experiencing this problem: When compiling gnome from ports, it gets pygtk from the opt repo and when it compiles it it says footprint mismatch, but if you compile it from gnome repo it works fine?
