Hi What desktop environment do you use? Does anybody use something different then openbox? I tried to compile mate from http://code.google.com/p/crux-mate/, but there was so many complite errors. I fixed several of them but now I stuck on libuniquie package, which hardly refuse to complite, because all warnings are treated as errors. I accept any advices about DE on CRUX.

Icewm doesn't compile on Crux-2.8

Hi, I have been using icewm on Crux-2.7 for years with increasing pleasure, running my favourite window manager icewm. On 2.8, however, compilation runs for a while and then aborts with these lines: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CXX yimage_imlib.o CXX yimage_xpm.o CXX ytooltip.o LD icewm /usr/bin/ld: warning: libffi.so.5, needed by /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.7.2/../../../libgobject-2.0.so, not found (try using -rpath or -rpath-link) /usr/bin/ld: wmapp.o: undefined reference to symbol 'FcConfigAppFontAddDir' /usr/bin/ld: note: 'FcConfigAppFontAddDir' is defined in DSO /usr/lib/libfontconfig.so.1 so try adding it to the linker command line /usr/lib/libfontconfig.so.1: could not read symbols: Invalid operation collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [icewm] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/local/ports/monoped/icewm/work/src/icewm-1.3.7/src' make: *** [base] Error 2 =======> ERROR: Building '/local/ports/monoped/icewm/icewm#1.3.7-1.pkg.tar.gz' failed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The warning about libffi.so.5 is correct, as libffi-3.0.11 no longer contain this file. After creating a symbolic link libffi.so.5 -> libffi.so.6.0.0 this warning disappears, but the rest remains. The build function essentially just contains the usual "./configure; make" sequence. How to create ports of an existing project

I'm new to CRUX and cannot really understand how to create my own ports. For example I want to create CRUX ports of mate project. There is a direct source download http://pub.mate-desktop.org/releases/1.5/ and also git repository http://wiki.mate-desktop.org/building on the mate-desktop web-site. Can you please describe in more detail how to do that?

New texlive port

Hello, first of all thanks for the effort to create a new port with texlive since the old tetex port did not work any more on Crux 2.8. After installing this biggest pkgfile ever (1.7G) I am a bit clueless where to start. I wanted to test it with a simple Latex source file but there is no "latex" command in the port included. I have tried various commands like e.g. pdftex without success. They all output errors. pdftex writes: kpathsea: Running mktexfmt pdftex.fmt /usr/bin/mktexfmt: line 395: //texmf/texconfig/tcfmgr: No such file or directory fmtutil: config file `fmtutil.cnf' not found. I can't find the format file `pdftex.fmt'! What am I missing? How can I compile my latex sources with texlive? Regards Markus
