Problem with reloading / SIGHUP some services

Hi there! I just realized that i.e. dovecot and exim /etc/rc.d start/stop scripts' reload function doesn't work over here on CRUX-2.4, bash 3.2.33(1). I had to use the /bin/kill binary, otherwise, I get: $ ./exim reload ./exim: line 19: kill: SIGHUP: invalid signal specification My bash's internal `kill` doesn't seem to recognize SIGHUP. Can you please verify?! The following patches work around the problem, but I want to understand whether this behaviour is expected or erratic. Thank you! Up to date ISO build instructions

I built an "optimized" Crux 2.4 using the following parameters: export CFLAGS="-march=prescott -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" export CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" export MAKEFLAGS="-j3" I then built core, opt and xorg and mastered an iso image per these instructions: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.distributions.crux.general/2561/match=… The new system is up and running fine. I'd like to do it this way instead: http://crux.nu/Public/BuildingISO (the git pull must be done inside the iso dir, btw) but I could use more up to date instructions. Anyone have an "official" list of commands that will cause the git sources to build? I've had success with some that I could figure out: make kernel (custom for my hardware) make core make opt (pruned to match the crux iso) make xorg (pruned to match my video hardware) but not with make bootstrap make iso etc. Thanks, Chris Any, yes, I realize that my "tuning" probably did little or nothing; in fact I've probably just wasted many hours on a worthless endeavor. But, sometimes you've just got to prove things to yourself the hard way. The joke is REALLY on me if -march-prescott is indeed identical to -march=i686 :)

Hello Using Crux 2.4 , i am wondering if it is possible to load the libsas module for my SAS1064 E controller. I wrote before in this forum about my little problem. When I start the org crux 2.4 installation cd , I have no change to access my Raid1 (2 x 73GB SAS disks). I get some advice to rebuild the kernel and make a new boot cd with the libsas module includet. I did but can not get it work . The lm_sensors port is updated to version 3.0.1. New library interface is not backwards compatible with an old one. Applications that, have not yet merged the changes will not compile/work. For a brief list of changes see announcements [1], [2]. The only directly affected ports in core/opt/contrib/xfce/gnome/kde are: net-snmp xfce4-sensors-plugin kdeadmin (There might be others, not listing it as a dependency.) I've applied a patch to net-snmp. Xfce repo has it's own lm_sensors port and patch for xfce4-sensors-plugin. Kde maintainer will receive a copy of this mail. Patch for kdebase (on which kdeadmin depends) is at [3]. Note: as of current (implicit) policy xfce/gnome/kde are preferred to supply their own versions of all dependencies. From this version a separate i2c-tools package exists. While it's not a direct requirement it is listed in '# Depends on:' header of lm_sensors to be sure more chips will work. To upgrade from a previous version run: 'prt-get remove lm_sensors' (as i2c-tools overlaps old package files) 'prt-get depinst lm_sensors' For those, having adjusted /etc/sensors.conf - take a look at sensors-conf-convert script before removing old configuration file. pkgmk warn on new files, footprint.

Here is a patch up for review for pkgutils to warn on new files, but still error on missing files. Would anyone like to comment on this and should I turn it into a option in pkgmk.conf as / <http://crux.nu/bugs/index.php?do=user&area=users&id=33>/Mikhail Kolesnik (mike_k) suggested? I was more thinking of making this feature permanent as it would drastically reduce the use of the 'ignore footprint' option while maintaining some protection when there are missing files. This also implies ports should be built with minimal dependences, only those that are required to build, and maybe function basically? Hi After i have big problem to getting run our Server (fujitsu Primercy tx120 with SAS disks in a Raid 1) I want to make a new crux (2.4) iso with the latest kernel / squashfs and the libsas module and so on. I did it after the document as shown under crux.nu/public/BuildingISO I can´t get It work , it seem to be very quick and very very dirty . I edit my Makefile according to Kernel 2.6.24.1 + squashfs 3.61 no Xorg + linux.2.6.24.1.config make bootstrap = make error 127n (and thats it , no more info) make core = OK make opt (or whatever custom collection you've added)= OK make kernel = ok make iso = squashfs make error 127 (same as bootstrap) Is there a little bit better documentation about crux 2.4 and add new device driver to the crux 2.4 Regards /J

Hello dhcpcd 3.1.9 (core) does not work. output: "eth0 timeout..." The same, with crux-2.4 iso, downgrade to 3.0.0 works fine? Tested on 2 different computers. pc 1 (via_rhine) pc 2 (e100) Any hints? Sorry, for my bad EN :-) Regards Ronny
